In 2019, Colin Walsh and Jairo Castellanos tried the case of Johnson vs. Southwest Research Institute in federal court. Ultimately, the jury returned a verdict that was named one of the Top 100 Labor & Employment Verdicts in the United States , one of the Top 100 Civil Rights Violation Verdicts in the United States , and one of the Top 100 Verdicts in Texas across all practice areas in 2019 by TopVerdict.com. In awarding attorneys fees to us, Federal Judge Royce Lamberth described our performance as "a remarkably sophisticated and professional presentation leading jurors to a unanimous verdict after just a few hours of deliberation."
Also in 2019, Mr. Walsh and Mr. Castellanos tried the case of Alvarez v. McCarthy (Secretary of the Army). The judge and jury awarded a total of $292,477.96 for workplace retaliation ($144,649.31 for the client's damages and $147,828.65 for attorneys fees/costs). The case is currently pending on appeal.
In Lynch v. City of Austin (Police Department), Mr. Walsh and Mr. Castellanos won a Travis County jury trial for failure to accommodate Ms. Lynch’s disability and workplace retaliation. The judge and jury awarded $400,655.22 ($298,922.10 in damages and interest and $101,733.12 in attorney fees and costs).
